Am I Getting Old?

This year same as every, I went along with some long time friends up to Hurley Wisconsin do an annual ski trip. Now you see iv been doing this sense sixth grade, the initial starting age of attending the trip, and not until this year did I ever feel I was outgrowing the people around me. It all started the very first day we arrived and as I looked around to see who had attended, it was mostly consisting of children around 12 to 13 years of age. This did not bother me one bit for I happen to spend a large amount of time around younger kids that I babysit. So it has never been a struggle for me to identify or get along with anyone of this age. Side note, I completely resent the use of the statement, “what are you like 12.” Because so what? Don’t you wish you still were? Anyways, all was going as usual throughout the trip un till the last night of our stay. Being teenagers we looked down upon the idea of going to bed at a reasonable hour, therefore we all stayed up to about 4 a.m. This is the night that it came apparent to me that I no longer fit into the stereotypes of that of a 12 year old. Throughout the majority of the night, me along with the few last standing traditional goers of the trip sat in a corner on our phones laughing over jokes that would not be funny to anyone other than a sleep deprived person such as ourselves. Meanwhile across the room sat the mob of what I would call the new goers playing nothing other than… TRUTH or DARE! A game souly played by young teens who aim to hit on one another. We kept our separate ways for a good hour until my curiosity began to kick in. Remembering how much I loved such a game when I was that age, I of course wanted in. Or at least thought I did until it happened. I made way to their corner and as I approached heard the most cringe worthy dare I had possibly ever heard in my whole life of merely 17 years… One of the girls said and I quote, “l dare you… to say the real meaning of pervert!” I then proceeded to break into laughter, barley containing myself. This was a joke right? I mean didn’t we used to ask better questions than that? Make better dares than that? That’s when it hit me, as they all sat in silence, that they honestly thought of that to be a great dare. And that at one point in time I would have thought it to be as well. In no way am I bashing the game of truth or dare or the mindset of that of a young teen. But merely recognizing that my own mindset has changed drastically without me even noticing. And recognizing that that is alright, because without this I wouldn’t be we’re I am today. Acknowledging that in the future I will almost certainly look back on the 17 year old me and once again ask, why?

Hobbies

You would think most teenagers would be in clubs, sports, etc. but not me! After all my efforts to join clubs at the start of the year and be more “active” I just couldn’t get the motivation to find something to occupy my time. Always putting out the excuse, “Oh, once middle school started I just got sooo busy with school work”, how many years has it been? Oh yea… to many. All this aside, with a bit of money (actually quit ea lot) and the ability to research my brains out I have found a hobby that seems to be satisfying my need to be a busybody, Photography! I went out and bought myself a camera and thus far I am happy with the turn out. Nothing makes me happier than some great micro and or action shots. And that is exactly what I am receiving with this camera, Sony mirrorless A5100.

With optional exchangeable lenses and great outdoor action shot opportunities, the controls are a bit hard to figure out at first, but I highly recommend this camera to any one looking for such a thing. And for those searching for a nice and easy everyday use, I recommend a step down with the A500, also great quality pictures.

Cutting It All Off :0

hair cut

Yep, I risked it and went for a pixie! The terror only really lasted until the initial amount was removed 🙂 Being a teenager my main worries were how others would view my new look when what I really should of been thinking about was how I would feel about the change. Once I got that out of my head and put myself first (which is important once in a while) and went with the risk I found it completely worth it! Its the perfect style for the upcoming summer weather; ridding me of my bad habits of  hiding behind my hair.

Dress Time!

It’s just about summer!… Kinda. Well I say it is the perfect time for dresses, not to cold or to hot to be rockin a cute dress. I much prefer tees and shorts once it gets humid around here. Here’s two of my most absolute favorite dresses iv ordered in this past year from boohoo.com

Closet Organization

So, the other day I decided to try and completely redo/organize my wreck of a closet. Which, of course, required me to empty it all onto the floor of my room. My room is minuscule so the end product of this process was as if a tornado had devoured my room. This not so small project required the replacement of shelves, buying cube storage and small boxes (which contain tank tops and scarves), as well buying a fairly large wicker basket to hold all of my shoes (I have a lot of shoes!)

I absolutely love the small milk cartoons with the rose gold handles! I bought both of these at Target. As well as the orange shoe basket, it fits at least 25 pairs of my shoes.     The cube storage was bought for around 40 dollars at Walmart. It is great quality and super sturdy! This set up works well for extremely small walk in closets.

Lemon Scrub

When I think summer, I think lemons! The smell just says it all, but to take it one step further pintrest provided me with the most fabulous lemon scrub. It smells fresh, feels absolutely amazing and most importantly helps cure dry hands. This is one among the top ten sugar scrubs chosen by somewhatsimple.com. I highly recommend trying out a few of the other recipes on your own but in the mean time I thought I would supply you with these simple directions.

Supplies~

  • 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar; divided
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil (almond oil will work also)
  • 1 lemon or lemon natural oils

Directions~

  • Poor 2 1/2 cups of sugar into separate bowl.
  • In new bowl mix 1/4 cup of coconut/almond oil, then heat in microwave until fully melted. (approximately 30 seconds)
  • Poor and mix oil into the sugar.
  • Using a small grater zest the rind of the lemon, then cut the lemon in half, remove seeds, and juice the lemon into the sugar and oil mixture.
  • Place in small mason jar and enjoy!

(If the scrub is to watery for your liking just add more sugar in small amounts until it is to your desired thickness)

Spring Weather

Spring is just a reminder that it is almost summer but the amount of chilly and rainy days can be over whelming. Don’t get me wrong, I love rainy days inside. But with the school year still on a roll with what seems to be no end in sight there is one thing I love most of all. That would be a nice relaxing spa night! Having multiple siblings this can be very hard to acquire. So I would like to share with you a few of my spring spa time favorites that make this rare alone time worth while.

  • Bath Bombs! Some of my absolute favorites would be “shoot for the stars” bath bomb and “star light star bright” luxury bath melt. Combin together to create awsome sparkle filled galaxy swirls! Both are available at Lush.
  • Face mask! Great avocado and oatmeal face mask. This is a great idea to clean and refresh your skin. This wash off facial mask leaves your skin super smooth and is available at Walgreens.
  • Tea lights! Deffinitly recommend candles and tea lights to set the relaxing mood.
  • Books! You could use a fun time passer as you bath away. My recent favorite is “Girl Online” by Zoe Sugg. Or if you prefer just sit and simply relax!
  • Moisturizer! Afterwards your bath it’s time to chill out but for those like me with slightly more sensitive skin you will most sertaintly understand this step. My most recommended thing yet is this expert sensitive hydration serum, Boots brand. It’s has not only smoothed out but also helped in clearing up my skin these past few chilly months!
  • Onsie Time!!! Now comes the best part of all, onesie time! Grab your favorite onsie or pj’s if you prefer and get cozy!  This polar bear onsie is absolutely superb and available at boohoo.com

Hello Internet!

Being a teen I am in the same boat as most typical girls (and guys) out there leaning towards the fact that… ITS ALMOST SPRING BREAK! I know everyone would rather get straight into summer but hey lets enjoy the time we have left before were yet a year older and “wiser”. I don’t know about you but sitting around and stressing about grades just wasn’t cutting it for me and neither was procrastinating by mindlessly burning brain cells with technology, which lead me to this. So here I am a horribly crazy average yet not so average teenage girl willing to put her thoughts on the internet. Knowing that daily vlogs are my favorite things to see leads me to think this whole blogging thing may be just my cup of tea. So I am happy to say hellllllllllooooo internet!!!
